No MOT does not invalidate your insurance. If you wrote the motor off on the way to the MOT station (see what I did there?) it's value would be effected by the lack of one, and you would be fully covered for the TP.
I know someone who, several years ago, bought a VW CamperVan in Germany and drove it to an MOT in Inverness (where it passed) stopping only for fuel (Human and Motor), all completely legally ....Comment
