Erm, this thread is about the UK government blocking a move to resolve this quickly. Which at best means they're as bad as each other.

It's hard to believe the deal won't be done. The important question is when's the cut off date? Is it the referendum? Is it A50, or is it in 2 and a bit years time?

Didn't the UK sign up to some kind of treaty that stated explicitly that negotiations can't start until the UK revoke that treaty? The UK have also used the 'hostage' situation themselves and you might like to look at the vote this week in parliament. Maybe if they had voted the other way, then the EU might have looked favorably on starting these negotiations early...Still you can now start learning the ancient trade of potato picking for when the foreigners all leave, it's a dirty job but someone's got to do it

The UK offered a discussion on post EU expat rights because it was a serious concern for individuals, the EU refused to talk about based on the treaty and they wanted to use them as hostages as described by the UK negotiating team they are now 'Pawns in the discussion'. Now which one is morally responsible?

If we do that there is no reason for the EU to give UK expats residence in the EU.When negotiating each side gives a little.
