            Sorry to hear about your daughter, MF - I hope she makes a rapid recovery. Sometimes being a parent is truly terrifying.

            I suspect Gran is going to need a bit of support as well, she must be feeling terrible.

              You're right they don't. Besides a pre-nup is not a guarantee to prevent your ex wife from getting her fair share, it's simply there to prevent a messier and more expensive court case arising should ex wife decide to play hard ball and try for more money and property pre the relationship time than she would have claimed for with the pre-nup in place.

              There are plenty of examples in the US whereby a pre-nup was signed based on a percentage of assets at the time and predicted in the future of the marriage, but by the time it was over, the asset value was way above what was previously predicted, making any ex-wife's claim for additional settlement to reflect these gains valid and perfectly legal.

                  I am hearing bad news all the time....accountant just been diagnosed with advanced prostrate cancer....dad of my best friend...only been my accountant for 2 months...

                  one of my best friend's wife almost died during child birth in the last week..

                  really hitting home the fragility of being a human....
