If you bought it in both names, then it will be considered joint property, and you will have your work cut out to stop her taking half. If you have a mortgage, she'll be jointly liable for that, though, so you may be able to do a deal for half the equity only. If it's in your name alone, you have a chance of hanging on to it, with a reasonable lawyer to back you up. It'll help if she didn't work, as it would show that she couldn't have paid any of the mortgage payments - it will also help if all the mortgage payments went out of your account, rather than a joint a/c.

NOOOOO!! If you can prove she didn't work and therefore is unable to pay mortgages etc then you have proven she is dependant on you. This is the single most important thing to disprove in a divorce. Prove this and she will take you to the cleaners.

They are completely unenforcable and a UK court will not recognise them.

That is in a marriage situation, which is what the original question was about.
