You're also mistaken if you think the EU will accept Scotland as a member. It just isn't going to happen.

So why do some Scottish people think that the UK cannot go it alone, but Scotland could?
Oil's only a minor point as has been made by the SNP.

Why shouldn't Scotland as an independent country be a part of the EU?

It wasn't the case that people who voted to remain get to remain, that isn't how it works. Just like I didn't vote Conservative, but I'm stuck with a Conservative government. A government who told us all that voting for Labour would deliver a Labour and SNP coalition, and that scared enough people into voting Conservative (whose other policy was to deliver an EU referendum).

So pipe down, accept the result, and get on with it. You're not even currently resident in the UK. Do you even pay tax in the UK at the moment?
The politics of Scotland are completely difference from rUK. It may as well be a separate country. What's my status got to do with anything. Don't you care for your family? I do. And I don't wish to see them driven against choices they did not make. Sister works for a EU company outside Edinburgh. They've already said 80 jobs losses are likely as a result.

Given the basket cases they've already let in, you have a point.

That said, Scottish oil will become Europe's oil and it'll be part of the communist dream that Sturgeon has. All sounds great until they run out of someone else's money.

Neville Chamberlain wanted peace with Germany, and we know how well that worked out. As the saying goes, "What you wants and what you gets is two entirely different things"

yeah he was dealing with a pan European organisation hell bent on ruling Europe for a 1000 years as well. Lets hope this time we can negotiate.

Because the Spanish, with their separatist Basques and Catalonian regions, would veto it.

Along with a shed load of other EU countries with their respective separatist movements:

A quality statement from a country with near £2 trillion in debt borrowed from other parts of the world.

I have no scruples about Scotland's future course with independence but plenty of contempt for those that would choose to inflict borrowed money on us day in day out.

What just like the UK vetoed Romania from joining before coming over here taking our jobs?!

Scotland helped amass that debt - you can take your part of it with you.

Er, maybe, although I've no idea how that relates to the separatist issue. (Anyone know what he's talking about?)

2016-09-18 Sturgeon's dream of independent Scotland in EU 'DEAD' as FOUR European nations block bid

Spain, Belgium, Italy and Romania have privately told the UK Government "they will not accept" a breakaway country joining the international club.

And a senior Whitehall source revealed Hungary could also kill off the First Minister's dream of strolling seamlessly into the bloc.

All five countries have secessionist movements of their own, telling UK ministers they are prepared to use their veto over new members to turn Scotland away.
