When a pimps sales talk goes bad...

Ok had a wierd one today. Some pimp phoned me up with a job offer (perm).

Not only did he annoy me by the following:

    * asked me why I was leaving my current contract when it cleary states on my CV - "project runs until mid december"

    * What does "security cleared" mean - even the agency registration forms ask if you have UK security clearance

He then preceded the tell me that being self employed at the age of 23 was such a bad idea as I was taking a big gamble and unless I am 40 I have no hope of finding any project work (well I seem to be going all right so far). I think he was basically trying to sell a permie position to me as its a massive comedown in salary but half way though he just forgot about that and started to become a careers guidance councilor.

I'm still not sure if he had a job or he just phoned up to abuse me.

Ok, yes I realise the whole thing was a sales pitch. It was just usual agents dont come out with "your playing a dangerous game of being a contractor at 23 - i mean that the f**k where you thinking!"

Indeed. When I was a 23 yr old contractor I was doing fine, but the prospect of being a 40 year old one fills my trousers with terror.

Mine are full. But I've managed to get a client base in a vertical market and am free of the 30% no-added-value parasites.
If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.
