A Star Wars Story: Rogue One - My Review

I thought it was good as a stand alone film but not as great as The Force Awakens which traded heavily on nostalgia.

I took my dad to see The Force Awakens and it was quite a special moment when Luke appears at the end as I watched the first 3 with him as a kid.

It's was special for you because you went with your dad.

For me was when I thought that the movie was about to start.


I prefere the Rogue One.

Or special for those of us who grew up with the proper trilogy.

I preferred Rogue One to The Force Awakens too, but TFA was still a vast improvement on the prequels.

Yes, I agree, I didn't saw the "Star Wars" but I saw the "Empire Striks back" and there was to many muppets for my tast and I gave up to follow the rest. Comparing ESB with TFA I prefere TFA too.

The droid was awesome.

Loved that they used the freedom of it being a standalone film to kill off the entire cast. Pretty powerful and very un-hollywood when you're sat waiting to see how they're going to get out of this and then they don't. When the droid went I was like "well that's sad but it's only a droid, brave decision"... then as the rest of the film rolled out...

Adds a lot of gravitas to IV just what price was paid.

Also explains what a lot of people saw as a significant plot flaw in IV - the shove a torpedo in here to kill the whole space station weakness.

Yeah, because everything else that happens in Star Wars is so much more plausible....

In the context of the SW universe most of it is. That's the difference. That they didn't have anyone reviewing the designs of something which must have cost rather a lot of money... where was the QA/QC department?

It worked. It destroyed a couple of things as seen in Rogue One. Given the guy in charge and the pressure he was under, testing got reduced. Totally realistic when you think about it.
