It's to show that they're just like us, and promote the idea that Islam is a religion of peace, and that only a very small portion are murderous.

Sas not everyone knows Muslims are varied like everyone else and aren't all extremists like the convert.

Lots of people are unaware for example that that blue eyed person or that black person they are talking to is a Muslim.

Isn't there a huge difference between a religious Muslim and a cultural Muslim... converts will always be the former? i.e. similar to Judaism and (sometimes) Catholicism where having that heritage is very important but very different to having actual religious faith. It's not something we're as used to/exposed to in the UK other than the very mild version "Of course I'm a Christian I was baptised, but I don't believe all that nonsense in the bible"

There isn't one Muslim culture just like there isn't one Christian one, even if it is a large denomination. Part of the point of the program is to explain that.

While Judaism and Sikhism in the UK are legally both religions and ethnic groups. Islam and Christianity aren't. So saying "Catholic culture" is meaningless as the Catholics I know from Ireland are different culturally from the Catholics I know from Portugal.
