A sovereign country can always pay it's debts. It's not the same analogy as a person owing a lot of money.

If, for example, we reached a stage where we couldn't pay the debt interest the government could simply increase taxation, cut spending or just print some more money or a combination of all 3.
ScooterScot hates the UK. Something to do with receiving sectarian abuse when he was young. Understandably unpleasant though that would be, you hope that as an adult he might realise it's only a small (Scottish) minority and that the people of England, Northern Ireland and Wales are your friends and allies.

Where did I say I hate the UK? What utter nonsense.

I hate career politicians that see public service as a prize rather than a duty, I'll make no qualms about that.

It's obvious from your hyper-nationalist stance.

If that were true would I not be standing on the border with my kilt targeting every one of the auld enemy as they crossed into our boney green lands with my glorious sight of my crown jewels?

I think your limit is starting threads on CUK.

yep that was good apparently Scotland's greatest hero was an Aussie. Pity we couldn't have got a Brit to play it.

Sean Connery would have done but he was spending a year dead for tax reasons.

Yeah, that will convince people using a link from the Daily Fail.

If we have a huge deficit then that's because we have been mismanaged by Westminster. Time for a clean break. If we have to take our share of the debt then we get the same % share of the assets.

Dust off that white paper and let me know predicted oil revenue figures again. The whole point is, as a union, we can and do ride the rough and the smooth together. Anyway, the votes been and gone. How about respecting the will of the majority?

At least we produced a white paper and it was under scrutiny by the opposition and MSM. Brexit didn't produce anything and still doesn't have a plan.

We're not together, we are led by our bigger neighbour whether we like it or not by decisions they take. There's absolutely no reason why we can't be an independent nation like Norway, Iceland, etc.

There's not one country who has managed to get independence from the UK ever asked to join again. If we were independent today and you asked Scotland to join a union with England there would be no chance of it happening.
