The founder of Unilever was a Boltonian, James Hesketh Lever (later Lord Leverhulme), hence lots of 'Levers' in Bolton, Great Lever, Little Lever, Darcy Lever, The Lever End at Burnden Park, Lever Street, rather unfortunately the red light street now, not enough prossies for a 'district'..
Also Leverhulme Park, and everything up Rivvy (Rivington). Top Barn, Bottom Barn, Pigeon Tower, Japanese Gardens, very philanthropic.
Apart from that, what has Lord Leverhulme done for us?Comment
