Saddam to hang

How is that Saddam's fault? The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.” -
If Saddam escaped the courtroom and fled to the UK, could he claim asylum on the grounds he faces the death penalty?
Would Cherry Bliar use all our tax payers money to defend him on "human rights" grounds?Comment

He managed to annoy America who then invaded. Britain, being America's lapdog, blindly followed.Originally posted by BagpussHow is that Saddam's fault?

you guys seem to be forgetting how this all started out.
UK and France created Iraq, ignoring natural tribal boundaries, then then carved off Kuwait so we coulds access oil if any trouble arose.
UK and US provided sadam arms to overthrow a previous reigieme. and then for many years ignored what was going on, untill Oil became an issue.Your parents ruin the first half of your life and your kids ruin the second halfComment

Nothing any governenment did or didn't do can warrant Saddam's actions. We may live in a PC country with far too many injustices because of this fact but to be honest he is getting what he deserves. None of the people I met seemed too concerned about his departure.Comment

You morons have been appeased by the coming death of a dictator. Do you think the situation will improve after Saddam is put to death?Comment

Saddam is irrelavent in Iraq now. The Jihadii's, insurgents, terrorists, call them what you will don't give a damn about what happens to him. They will carry on regardless because what they want has nothing to do with Saddam Hussein and never has.
When the US removed Saddam from power they opened a huge can of worms that he had successfully kept a lid on for 30 odd years. No-one in the US administration understood this or planned for it and now we are paying the price for that lack of planning.
Removing Saddam may have been a good thing to do, but the way it was done was defintely not the best way to do it."Being nice costs nothing and sometimes gets you extra bacon" - Pondlife.Comment

No, it was actually all of the Iraqis that I lived and worked alongside with on 3 seperate tours out there. But you're probably right, I'd imagine they would think quite hard about being shot of a dictator responsible for (in some cases) the deaths of their entire families.Originally posted by ChurchillWas that at your local branch of "The Hard of Thinking Club"?

Like I said, you may disagree with the war (a lot of servicemen and woman do!) but the death of Saddam WILL appease a huge slice of Iraq's population. The situation is slightly worse than when we were just fighting Saddam's regime because there are so many power hungry groups out there now so no, things haven't got any better. But this sentance will at least let a lot of innocent people know that maybe this time they wont be let down again.Comment
