It sounds like you need a new direction in life.

If you can survive on a reduced income give retraining a go. Look at what you used to enjoy and that will bring in money, even if it's not as much as you've had in the past.

Something outdoors maybe, or craft/arts based.

There's more to life and work than IT.

I did a quick forum search and found a thread from a few years back that may answer some of your questions....

How close are you to retirement?

Blimey, you youngsters, those who have admitted their age at least .
I always take decent time off between gigs, or when I know I need it. That might be why I feel I still need to work at 47

Fine to "retire", but you still need something to do, unless drink and drugs can fill in the gaps, which I know, from experience, they can't

My old man has got it right, ex MD of a massive corporate, ex Director of 2 companies, now him and his wife deal in antiques. Never going to make a fortune, but loves the lifestyle, social life and the fairs etc at 70 years +.

He reckons you need something to do otherwise you'll die of boredom, like a good number of his peers.

You've just got to find something you enjoy doing, totally get IT isn't it.

PS. You are never too old to travel, or party IMO, as long as the ticker can still stand it

I quite fancy myself as an antiques dealer.

I watch Bargain Hunt when I WFH and have a 1998 Millers' Guide - do I need any other qualifications?

A thick skin for when you knowingly sell worthless tat to some poor unsuspecting old lady?

LOL. To be frank my old man wouldn't buy the worthless tat in the first place, so he wouldn't have it to sell.
He has been a collector for around 55 years, however, so he knows his stuff.
