You only have to see the arms escalation that occurred in the USA from the wild west to the present day to see that a starting point of everyone with a handgun ends up with everyone with an assault rifle. An arms race instigated by the authorities that means the crims need to be tooled up so the police need bigger guns, so the crims get bigger guns, so the population want bigger guns to defend their home.
The solution in the UK is already being implemented, to have more dedicated specialist trained armed teams on call for fast response, or already on duty at big events. As an aside, that CTSFO babe can save my life anytime I'm next at Wembley.
I'd rather accept that not all incidents can ever be stopped in a 'free' society than see that society change for the worse and each time an incident occurs be grateful I wasn't in the wrong place at the wrong time, if I continue to have such good fortune.
Maybe the change we need is a tougher crackdown on illegal arms in the UK (and being smuggled into the UK) with an amnesty like they did before to get the numbers down. We seem to have a big enough problem with knife crime. I'd hate to see those nutjobs have easier access to guns.Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down. Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.Comment

It's a cultural thing, shoot the Indians, Mexicans, British, Blacks, each other, home boy.
Clearly I am in the minority, but I would like to see all police armed with pistols.Comment

Guns are so archaic, got to be better solutions in modern or upcoming technology.
Something like a human EMP that puts everyone within a certain distance to sleep. Deployed by EMP proof drone.Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down. Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.Comment
