It's nothing about greed. My friend is working in 80 years old company. He gets no bonuses, on odd year he might get a 1-2% raise. During your day there are emails floating from management of all the stuff stakeholders getting, how to increase stakeholders dividends etc.
His department makes tulipload of money and he gets scraps.
