If he was a friend to fishermen then he would have fought for their rights in the EU and attended those meetings included a couple where votes were taken on how much can be caught, Farage is like Boris, a friend of himself. Fighting for the working man:

Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Isn't The Independent owned by a Russian?

Are any UK newspapers not owned by either foreigners, foreign based (as in for tax purposes) companies or tax exiles?

Not really. By attending all meetings properly he would have been assisting in Britain's EU membership, which he does not support. He became an MEP to disrupt Britain's membership, not to further it. The citizems of South East elected him expressly for this purpose. The fishermen seem to think their interests are served better by Brexit.

If true that would hardly make him exceptional as a politician. Personally, I believe he does have principles. Ambitious politicians climb the greasy pole quietly. They don't usually go out on a limb as he as done, or say unpopular things, or get attacked by people with giant cow udders etc.

I saw Nigel interviewed inside a boat alongside Fishermen. Either they invited him onto their boat, or vice versa. Either way it seems to denote the fishermen think of him as a friend.

Not turning up to meetings isn't disrupting Britain's membership it's simply depriving the British people of their rightful say in the EU. Which happily for Farage ties in nicely with his assertion that the British people don't have a say in the EU.

When the UK government has consistently backed the fisheries policy of the EU the fisherman are going to be in for a shock when we Brexit and the UK government continues to back the fisheries policy of the EU. I wonder if they'll be looking to have Nigel and chips?
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Actually he's a failure, he's stood for MP five times and failed to win each time yet he gets voted into an organisation that he doesn't believe in.

FWIW it was the threat from Osborne of a 'punishment' budget that swung it for me. I'm definitely voting Leave now. And the Tories have lost my vote in 2020 too.
