Moving to Canada

Vancouver has a similar climate to London, but with 300 hours of extra sunshine.

If I were thinking of living in Canada, it would be Vancouver, I hate the cold and snow.

That's the warmest sunniest bit, well Vancouver Island is.

Nova Scotia was hot and sunny last summer when I was there. But I can't see there being many IT contracting roles on the island.

I'm going to be visiting Canada this year for a holiday and also to check the country out with a view to possibly emigrating there.

See whether you are likely to get in on the skills list - if you do then you're pretty sorted (particularly if you are young).

If you want to be in Quebec then they have their own immigration rules and French is a must, but most of the other provinces are pretty welcoming and will offer permanent residency pretty quickly (possibly even from the off). Five years of that and you can get citizenship if you want to.

Depends where you want to be about whether there are any jobs there though, eh?

The biggest attraction for me is quality of life / standard of living. There are lots of good things about living in London but now that I have a baby I need to think about the future.

I have heard that Vancouver is in the middle of a property bubble and very expensive to live in.

Spent one Christmas in Vienna, it's the most boring place on earth and the U-Bahn full of druggies.

All we heard when asking about things to see/do was 'Alles geschlossen...'
