Are Google caving into EU pressure?

2016-05-31 Google is the EU Remain campaign's secret weapon

Google has demoted the site EU Referendum to “below the fold” in searches for the term “EU referendum”, where it isn’t visible to most web surfers unless they scroll down.

The political site, which was founded by author and researcher Richard A.E. North in 2004, was the top search result for the topical expression across all the major search engines for a decade.

At Google, the site has been demoted to 10th (or 13th, depending on how you count it) for the search term, with links to the BBC and the pro-EU Guardian newspaper ranking higher. North’s site still ranks No.1 for the same term over at Yahoo! and Bing. ..
But maybe it's just coincidence that the EU has suddenly started hassling Facebook and Google, among others, for billions in tax ..

    It's a coincidence.

The UK referendum isn't a concern to lot of Europeans. Mainly because they have seen the Irish and Dutch have referendums until they voted the "right way".

As you seem to have misinterpreted my post, I'll spell it out,

Surely you must be aware that Facebook and Google generally know which countries their users are based in, from login details or just IP addresses.

By country they can easily tailor search results (Google) and news feed priority (which Facebook has apparently already done in their voting experiments)

So who is to say the EU is not leaning on them to do just that for UK users over the coming month, in exchange for easing off on the tax audits and demands?

          Google is bigger than EU.

Oh, tinfoil hat time! Wasn't there a few articles about Brexiters and conspiracy theories a short while ago
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.
