Surely you must be aware that Facebook and Google generally know which countries their users are based in, from login details or just IP addresses.

By country they can easily tailor search results (Google) and news feed priority (which Facebook has apparently already done in their voting experiments)

So who is to say the EU is not leaning on them to do just that for UK users over the coming month, in exchange for easing off on the tax audits and demands?
