Car is 15 years old and only up for £700. I sometimes wonder what people expect for £700. I've had them all from "I thought it'd be in immaculate condition" to "give you £100" to "oh I thought mercedes were bigger than this" (its an A class as the advert states - look it up!)

But sunday guy turned up. Business manager for car dealership wanted for his mrs. Gave me business card. Yep I'll have. Sorry no money on me but I can pay cash tomorrow and pick it up. Sorted I thought.

Monday. Phone call. Banks closed can I come tomorrow 6pm OK. Bit weird but hey.

LAst night no sign of the twat. Phoned him, text him but hes ghosted me it seems. Bit wassed off because I've had other people ring me and I've told them its sold.

Morale of the story = take a deposit.

Funny thing is he gave me his business card. Not sure if I'd be brave enough to act like a tit when someone knows where I work. Can just imagine a nutter strolling into his car showroom and causing a scene. Not clever idea.

Just be thankful it wasn't with a house. Under the Scottish system I had a house under offer. Legally can't take a deposit but had to take the house off the market for the potential buyer. 4-weeks later the buyer's mortgage offer fell through. Meanwhile I turned away other potential buyers not to mention the expense of keeping the place empty.

I flogged my old Citroen a while back, it was 10+ years old, done over 150k miles but was still a reliable runner, stuck it on Gumtree on a Saturday at 10pm for £850 quid (I wanted £700 for it), sold it by 6pm Sunday for £820 quid to the first bloke that came to look at it, no hassle, you either got it or you ain't PC

Leave the poor guy alone. He isn't divorced yet experienced in life to know what luck is all about.

                      Sorry.

I just get a bit p1ssed off when certain people start threads and they get a ton of abuse. There have been some good suggestions on here for how to get round the problem in future and those are welcome.

On the other hand, PC does not give a stuff. And on CUK one expects 9 troll posts to find a gem.....
