Do you think this is really the case, or is it a bit like Moore's law - every generation of new CPUs we're told "this is the end of miniaturization because of physical laws" and then they go and find a new trick? We've been hearing about super-resistant-germ DOOM for quite a number of years but is it still on the same timeline as predicted or does it keep getting pushed when the headlines draw funding?Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostWorrying situation.
People will be dying from things we take for granted, like an infection in a wound or from food poisoning. Back to the Victorian era in terms of life expectency....

The world's birth rate is actually falling. Countries who have a tendency to have lots of children are having less once the women get educated. You only need to give them primary education to make a significant difference.Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostIt would be better if people understood the need for population control.

The reason while the population is increasing is people are living longer. The number of people 85+ around the world has increased especially in developed countries.
So if you want the population to decrease you need to kill of old people."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

One of many things I don't understand. How come ancient things like Penicillin still work well in many cases? Why have some bacteria evolved to be immune and not others? And surely if we stopped using some drugs then evolution would cause immunity to fall.bloggoth
