But he's not right in some of his facts - bananas can only be bought in 2s & 3s, no bigger bunches - because of the EU? I don't think so.

It's quite easy to miss the wood for the trees. Hamface and Gidiot do it all the time. They're both good on details, but routinely miss the bigger picture, which is why we have this referendum, and 15 policy U-turns in the last 5 weeks.
