    It's not rampant everywhere. Europe, partially Germany and Switzerland, have some of the most strictest privacy laws of any country. I value my privacy more than I care for it to be exploited.

              Yes, data on dropbox is not encrypted. On top of that services of the state can gain access via court order etc.

              Both of these are not true in some European countries.

                I don't use dropbox... I use Amazon Glacier... 256 bit encryption... A court order asking me to turn over the keys isn't going to get very far while I am sat in Europe. And Amazon can't unencrypt the data unless I do.

                There is very little difference.
