Synology NAS box running CloudStation in my office. CloudStation is their version of Dropbox. So I have as much space as I need and its flawless and extremely fast (Virgin 200mbs service with 10mbs upload)
The NAS box is also backed up to Amazon Glacier in case of a disaster.
All expensive to start with and then free forever (obviously not including Glacier which is a small monthly cost of a couple of dollars unless I need to recover from said disaster and then it gets a tad expensive).Comment

But that's in the USA and so they'll help themselves to look at your material whenever.Originally posted by dx4100 View PostSynology NAS box running CloudStation in my office. Nah, NSA isn't allowed to spy inside USA... so GCHQ gives a helping hand to make it legal, where as NSA does the same for UK and nobody gets hurt ....Originally posted by scooterscot View PostBut that's in the USA and so they'll help themselves to look at your material whenever.Comment

Amazon AWS S3
Cheap as chips, lots of configurable options, plus it forces me to learn AWS which is becoming very marketable as a skillPoliticians are wonderfull people, as long as they stay away from things they don't understand, like working for a living!Comment

I was thinking that.Originally posted by portseven View PostAmazon AWS S3

I use free dropbox all the time. I even use it to transfer between two PCs next to each other on a LAN because it's much easier than arsing around with Windows networking.
Carbonite for backup too. A NAS is all very well until your house burns down. Will work inside IR35. Or for food.Comment

I didn't realise this issue was a top concern for the OP ?Originally posted by scooterscot View PostBut that's in the USA and so they'll help themselves to look at your material whenever.

Using cloud storage is akin to keeping your filling cabinet out on the street. Perhaps not a top concern for most. However if you're working on restricted / commercially sensitive material...Originally posted by dx4100 View PostI didn't realise this issue was a top concern for the OP ?

It's not rampant everywhere. Europe, partially Germany and Switzerland, have some of the most strictest privacy laws of any country. I value my privacy more than I care for it to be exploited."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". Mark TwainComment

Yep that's why I don't put on the internet or even computer things I really don't want people to know.Originally posted by scooterscot View PostUsing cloud storage is akin to keeping your filling cabinet out on the street.
