    Isn't there that little matter of night time? You know when the sun isn't shining because it is on the other side of the world - doesn't that put a slight dent in your permanent or did you have some other definition?

        Sorry I should have made a more idiot-proof description and added <irony> tags.

        Anyway this too is easily fixed. Drill a hole right through the earth and twin your solar stations with one on the other side, both sides now have energy all day.*

        *For the hard of thinking, this too is not a serious idea.
