You would need to be in outer space, at least a couple of 100,000 miles away from the Earth to have permanent sunshine. You also would need an infrared laser to transport the energy to Earth and probably some mirrors in a Geostationary orbit to get the beam to the right place

One thing I imagine might improve efficiency is to cover solar panels in some kind of micrograting that would refract ultraviolet light from various angles vertically onto the reaction surface, provided the coating was cheap to manufacture, low maintenance, and durable.

Use PFI and let our kids pay it, although it will then cost £60 million per mile.

If we remain in the EU there will soon be presssure to extend average speed checks throughout the motorway network and introduce motorway tolls everywhere, as they do in France.

And once the EU ordains something, public opinion counts for nothing. ...

High level cloud is OK, if you could be above low-level you'd vastly increase your reliability. THat's hardly any miles up
