Probably not - the main forces tight up in Battle for Britain were Luftwaffe plus Navy, but there was enough of those for the Ostfront, particularly because most effective tactical air weapon - Stukas - were withdrawn from air raids on Britain after big losses they suffered.

The real problem Germans has in Russia was lack of mobility - most of their army had to walk on foot, use horses, even in panzer divisions: and they pretty much pulled all they had in 1941 for attack on USSR.

(In tribute to the Python Team, as in 'What have the Romans ever done for us?)
1st World War - needed the French (who were half good at that stage)
2nd World War - won by the US and Russians
Gulf War 1 and 2 - token contribution by British forces who would not have affected the outcome anyway.

Various colonial wars - lost in long run
Aden - lost (due to US intervention)

We overrate our armed forces - a very dangerous way to be as the French now know.
      Hard Brexit now!

the French were begging Russian Tsar to start offensive into Germany to pull away lots of manpower from their front: this did happen but at the cost of a lot of dead Russian soldiers.

Were we on the same side as the German?
          No

          Did the Germans win?
          No

          Did we win?
Yes - because we were not on thier side.

I don't care who helped who, we won. Played 2, won 2 lost 0 in the whole world war thing!
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

          I preferred version 1!

The finished on the winning side so they did win in the end. The Germans and the Japs did not! No one side won or lost. That is why they were called Allies. Had the US fought alone, they probably could have won, but it would have taken much longer and the war would have been closer to home.

Dialing back the jingoism for a minute and returning to the thread: I think this is a bold move for the Germans and should be supported by other nations. The UN is crying out for more troops around the globe. Let the Germans play their part. This transformation from defensive force to expeditionary force will not have been easy for the Germans. WW2 has been quite a stigma for the country, and the current generation are extremely well-informed about the country’s track record, and are actually quite ashamed about it.
This new stance shows that the country is overcoming its post-WW2 complex, and that should be applauded. This action is part of a growing national psyche that says “We are moving on”. Perhaps we should too?
