Interesting how the vast majority of those were in manufacturing/engineering.
I feel old when I remember that I went to a residential interview at GEC for a graduate job - didn't get it, drank too much of the free beer at the evening reception dinner

Aye, them were the days.

All gone now of course: the huge industrial British corporations: GEC, ICI, Marconi.
The Germans, by and large, managed to keep theirs
