An excuse. of course they could , to technically asses your competency they could, I'm sure you could write a series of challenges that if someone would pass they could do your job I'm sure of it, the questions about fit which most interviews are about is pointless (i think its a UK culture). my belief is delivery is more important.

What if part of the job is about your ability to communicate, analyse and interview people (BA/PM role)?
When I used to be a perm interviewing, I also wanted proof beyond a test that someone is suitable. I expected contractors to add value. As such, I'd want to know that they can come in, get along with the team (not in a matey way, in a not going to upset anyone way), get the job done, handover and move on. I understand the project-based ethos of contracting long before I became a contractor. Part of that is how they communicate. Another part is going through their CV to find out what parts of it are relevant for the project role that we had on offer. If the interviewer doesn't prepare properly then it's a lottery who you end up with.
Now I'm contracting, I prepare myself on how I'd expect to be interviewed, understanding the key parts of the gig on offer and what parts of my CV would be relevant for them.The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't existComment
