Asad Shah was my local newsagent and handled our paper deliveries. It is fair to say I have been pretty down over his murder.
I know people always get some level of beatification upon death but this guy really was the real deal, always asked how the family was, always shook your hand, always had a smile. I was never aware of his religion but I assumed it was Abrahamic and some non standard branch. You used to get a Christmas card written and printed by him about peace, respect and love. It was like George Harrison had taken over your local paper shop.
To know the details of his death and to know the suspect drove 200 miles to commit the murder is hard to take, suicide belts have a certain unipersonal nature, it is the opposite with this murder.
