Health tourism is what it says, it is not the full health cost of migrants, including legals, to the NHS. 60% of all new HIV cases in 2009 were Sub Saharan Africans. Getting on for a £1bn for that alone.bloggoth

Which leading cancer specialist was it that felt so strongly as to make a statement like this, but not strong enough to put their name against it? oh was it....Professor Angus Dalgleish?
"Professor Angus Dalgleish, of St George’s, University of London, who stood in last year's General Election for the UK Independence Party, told The Sun....."
Hmm...well he would wouldn't he? So they used the same source, who is politically motivated by his beliefs to make such statements, to create a story to look like it had several sources...
Picking out specific instances of mis management is easy - but the facts are that the numbers are far, far less than are banded about by UKIP etc: Reality Check: 'Health tourism' under spotlight - BBC NewsComment

The author of the BBC article is David Gregory-Kumar. He has a PhD in Physics so I would expect at least a modicum of rigour in his reports.

...if we don't execute all illegal immigrants on sight?
...if DimPrawn keeps posting nonsensical gibberish?
What point are you trying to make here? Or are you just rattling the cages of the Daily Mail readers and swivvel-eyed loonies?
btw - out of the entire budget of the NHS, how much is taken by health tourists, in percentage terms?Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

How come in this era, with all the technology available it's still so difficult to verify a patients residence status? This is done in other countries. Basically the situation should be similar to the US, over there if you've got no health insurance you only get the very basic service and then it's out the door. We could have something similar here, either you prove your supposed to be here(Supply your NHS Number for example) or it's basic ward for you and out the door.Comment
