    Switching Gas/Electric.....

I've done the switching thing, about time too as I was on the crappest tariff on both, uswitch site recommended First:Utility and so far yes, I'll save shiitloads, like £1500 a year.

But the uswitch site is now emailing me every fecking few days with a new cheaper tariff some as much as a further £450 a year (will cost £60 to switch from First) lots of them, what does everyone else do? Switch all the time if there are savings or ride it out - if this goes on I could be switching every few weeks which obvs costs in time and effort and not knowing where I am or who I'm with at the end of it.

    Any opinions?

One thing: In the UK utilities do a hard credit pull every time you apply, which can/will affect mortgage & finance rates if you are applying for anything in the future.

      Aim to switch every year.

Lots of cheap tariffs have a year tie in e.g. if you move earlier you have to pay them £30 for each utility you move.

So ignore the emails and put a date in your calendar 8 weeks from when your tariff ends. Then at that point find a new tariff. You won't save as much as you originally saved but you should be able to keep the price to within a few pounds of what you are currently on.

Not a big deal if you only switch once a year and your credit record is very good.

Indeed, but if you switch several times a year, it doesn't show loyalty. Same effect of churning 0% cards.

peversley a good credit score can have an adverse affect on you. If you always pay your credit cards in full, then you may reach a point where you are declined new ones. Banks like customers who they make a profit off....

Once a year to re-check is enough hassle. I'm sure you can do better but it's not worth the effort IMO.
