Speaking to another Scot recently with a German colleague in earshot I said 'You're taking the micky!'
German colleague 'Who is micky? And where are you taking him?'
Many years ago in Munich, I was wandering round the office in a slashdot "I read your email." t-Shirt. Many baffled Germans, to include my boss who pointed out that he always got return receipts so did not understand the point of the t-shirt.
When I lived in Germany, I told all my friends that I lived in Ausfarht, and when they left the airport they should just follow the signs.
I no longer have as many friends.
I've said before, on my first time in Germany with the Mrs who was working there, I kept remarking on the sheer amount of trains on the S-Bahn going to 'Kurzzug'.
She never said a word till I'd said it like 1,000 times then called me an idiot...
