If I want to get a 'real' gas fire, and I don't have a flue, do I need to build a false chimney breast? It would go on the gable end wall, so getting a flue above roof height is probably a non starter. Guess I'm looking at a balanced flue - but was hoping for a wall mounted fire. What's the deal?

Think you can fan it outside, as long as the outside bit has a mesh cover to stop idiots touching itOriginally posted by mudskipper View PostIf I want to get a 'real' gas fire, and I don't have a flue, do I need to build a false chimney breast? You will need an air vent though - and they are bollox in winter - I put a slat grate on mine to close it off - which is v.naughtyHow fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think -

Blimey click bait title of the daySocialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

You can buy Flueless gas fires, they use the air from in the Room, you will need a vent in the wall though to bring air in.
you could also vent it out the gable wall using 128mm flue, your allowed up to 2 45degree bends so you could go 45 degrees straight out the top through the wall and up
check these guys out, very helpful they should be able to tell you what you can/can't do
