Ha - the bunch of fookin right on hipsters who will pay a fortune for anything with a half eaten apple on it have just had a big lesson on brand management and recognition

the 'Top Gear' brand is quite clearly nothing without Jezza (and Hamster and May).

maybe they should have sacked the whinging producer who got a smack in the mouth instead of the guy who made the show work (for the past 20 years)

It took Jeremy Clarkson a significant amount of times to grow into the programme and make it his own (and given that it was designed for him on the relaunch, and his mate produced it), and it will take a similar amount of time for Evans to make it his own too - he can't change too much to fit his style, because that will affect the international audience.

You can see how "good" Clarkson was in his first show, here:

Note the change in voice, style, accent and Alan Partridge impersonation

So by 2036 Chris Evans will be worth watching? Great.

          (Haven't watched last night's yet).
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Only if you think it will take the same amount of time, and that it took 20 years before Clarkson was worth watching.

I'm still waiting for Clarkson to be worth watching, though, so if it takes the same time then 2036 might be optimistic

he was very recognisable then and the sense of laddishness was there.

I quite like the new series. Not having that fat on the show makes it watchable for me. Clarkson just got worse and worse. if you like the guy you need to take a long hard look at yourself.

I think Chris biggest issue is having the balls to make the show more his own.

well from the viewing figures it would seem you have a different opinion from most of the audience.

Chris Evans is a needy individual - not up to good old fashioned male banter. I really like Clarkson because he cuts through a lot of bulls*it and clearly does not take himself seriously. I like men like that. Someone give me a mirror

                      Petition to Lord Rothermere

Stop The Nigel Farage of Newspapers

                      To Lord Rothermere:

As readers of your paper and members of the public, we call on you to reel in or reconsider Paul Dacre, as the editor of the Daily Mail. He has become the Nigel Farage of newspapers. He claims to be a champion for press freedom, but over the last few weeks he has used the paper to stoke fear, hate and xenophobia in the UK, while offering virtually no Remain campaign perspective. Worse still, he harms the journalistic integrity of the Daily Mail by allowing front page stories to run based on untruths. We are deeply concerned by the rising divisions in the UK and want the Mail to play a constructive role, not fuel discord.
