Can you advise out of these which SUV is good - HONDA CRV(Old design), VOLVO XC60, VW Tiguan or any other ?
CRV every time. We bought a 55 plate (Mk.II facelift model?) for £4k a couple of years ago, it's never missed a beat, solidly built, reliable, tons of space, between 40-60 to the gallon, good safety ratings. Regularly drive it down south in summer and it just eats up the miles. 2k revs in 6th for about 60mph from memory.
It's done 165k now but looks like new inside and under the hood, and doesn't feel worn like a car of this mileage should.
At the time I looked at MOT data to narrow it down to the Rav 4, CRV and the Nissan X-Trail. All were very close and I like Toyotas but the thing that put me off the Rav 4 was they were more expensive and have a silly 'stay' on the rear door which means you can't open it fully (without modding it) some EU law that says the rear lights have to be visible when the door fully open.
My requirements are 4wd drive, should not be more than 4 years old and good engine.
Sorry missed that bit, though should be valid for the newer CRV's (they look even bigger). We got the 2L Diesel and it has plenty of poke, well if it can propel a lump that size to 120mph it's doing something right.
(Quick physics lesson: it's probably doing about 80 or 100% more work at 120mph, than 100mph. Not that you'd go that fast but it's not short of power is what I'm getting at..)

Have you got one just up for sale, then? Given your recent motoring woes
Why would you sell a car that feels like you're just cruising along at 30 when really you're doing, erm, 36.
