How do I get random pictures of naked ladies to pop up? I usually pay for this, so if there's a free option out there, I'm interested to know....

Worse than any Virus.Originally posted by VectraMan View PostYes antivirus does more harm than any virus could. It's like permanently having chemotherapy just in case you get cancer one day.
My old Dell laptop got much better and faster the day the supplied McAfee licence expired. Happy day.Comment

Interesting - I have two laptops - both running windows defender.Originally posted by mudskipper View PostI picked up some malware over the weekend, which caused popups of ladies who had forgotten to put their clothes on (as well as other equally annoying but SFW popups). Spent hours running AVs, cleaners etc, as well as manually removing registry entries and stuff. Still the forgetful ladies kept appearing. I think I've finally got rid of it with Spybot Search and Destroy.
1 The kids use and has never been near anything remotely dodgy - and they get no dodgy stuff at all - not even forgetful ladies
2 The other one has been used for many things - but again still no forgetful ladies
I think someone has been on a dodgy site or two - to look at forgetful ladies!
you may want to point them towards more mainstream sites like xnxx or pornhub as these generally avoid trying to slap loads of crap on your PC.

I used to use Kaspersky, then switched to Trend Titanium. Currently just using the Windows Defender stuff on the home PCs, and not using Edge/Internet Explorer.…Maybe we ain’t that young anymoreComment

John McAfee has a great video on how to uninstall his former companies anti virus softwareSocialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.
No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.Comment

I used to have the same problem from time to time, and had to install all sorts of free AV's to get rid of irritating popups.Originally posted by mudskipper View PostI picked up some malware over the weekend, which caused popups of ladies who had forgotten to put their clothes on (as well as other equally annoying but SFW popups). I would actually recommend Microsoft Security Essentials. Free and surprisingly good at getting rid of that kind of rubbish. I'm sure there are equally good free AV's but have had good experience over the last few years. If I do pick up a virus an update and a run through always does the trick, no need to surf the internet trying to identify the virus.

This reminds me: The AVG licence has expired on Client co's PC. I'm ignoring it for now. Maybe I should tell someone.
Every now and again it decides one of the JS files that are part of one project is a virus and cleans it. Which is great if you accidentally check it in.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.Comment

I think it was something I installed. Needed to access owncloud - didn't read the instructions and thought I had to download and install (I didn't). Popups appeared shortly after. Zilch on their forums though - so may not be that. Hadn't installed anything else for a few days. If I could be arsed I'd set up a VM and try it again, but I can'tOriginally posted by BlasterBates View PostI used to have the same problem from time to time, and had to install all sorts of free AV's to get rid of irritating popups.

Microsoft Security Essentials Review
Looked like spaces.slimspots doing the redirects - but got rid of that and I was still seeing them without the spaces.slimspots intervention.

You dont need to go to the excessive expense of apple crap to avoid viruses. Go Linux Mint instead.Originally posted by SlipTheJab View Post+1. Avoiding viruses is a nice side effect of Macs, the OS and build quality is so much better than PCs, and charging a realistic price for their kit means Apple don't install Trojans like Blowfish as part of the bloatware firms load onto their kit to scrape a few more dollars profit out of people...Originally posted by BolshieBastard View PostYou dont need to go to the excessive expense of apple crap to avoid viruses.
