    In your opinion maybe.

But some of us do PAYE yearly precisely to reduce the admin. In fact when RTI was brought in at least one major contractor accountancy moved to put their clients on the annual scheme. CT revenue is already spread across the year for HMRC as companies have different annual reference dates.

I have signed the petition and forwarded the link to those self-employed that I know.

Gotto love it really - <mod snip> Osborne publicly says he scaps that annual tax return, hooraay!!! Now it turns out EVERYBODY will have QUARTERLY returns

      Fooking Tory Scum...

Everybody who voted for them should get no Xmas presents

The only good thing is that "payment on account" should be lower now.

This new quarterly tulip is not about business, but about EVERYBODY effectively having tax return, US style, only "digital" and quarterly rather than annual - very good for the Govt, but what's in it for the people who'll have to fill it in???

seems a little pointless if there isn't serious amounts of cash to collect. Any benefit will be wasted in processing costs.

If they put a minimum level e.g. £75k turnover then most bottom end self employed & PAYE people would be excluded.

Now if they wanted to collect VAT monthly that would be a sensible option as frequently businesses go bust owing a lot of VAT.

What will happen is this: all people will have a digital file at HMRC, already companies provide monthly payroll info, so it will be populated from that data pretty up to date, what comes next is that OTHER sources of income will be required to be updated in HMRC by various companies - say banks that pay interest or maybe even ALL incoming payments in bank/paypal which will be automatically treated as income unless the person logs in to dispute that

Those tax avoiders are going to become extinct soon...
