Try getting a job - any job - without a mobile phone. Even if you walk in to a place and they give you a job they want your mobile phone number to be able to contact you at any time.
Not a problem just give them your landline and e-mail.

If I need to contact someone when I'm out I use a "telephone box".

A nice non Barratt Hutch for £250k in the SW would be nice, 4 bed, decent garden. Quite road, no riff raff. Trouble is you need to double that figure for something like that.
