        Especially those hipster types

Although it does make me laugh that they all seemed to copy Andrew Weatherall.

oh and there are plenty of mobile phones which are a lot cheaper than an I phone and work perfectly well in terms of making and receiving calls.

check how much you spend on clothes as well

the problem has not changed but you insist on having the best of everything and wonder where the money goes
Yes I mean pomme, as a triple world play, never mind.

          Haircuts, infrequent £10 a time.

          Clothes, supermarket, rarely.

Phone, you got me, iPhone 5Something had it for two+ years.

If only I had bought a Nokia, I could be living here!

Curious how all the coffee shops round here are full of old people...

Try getting a job - any job - without a mobile phone. Even if you walk in to a place and they give you a job they want your mobile phone number to be able to contact you at any time.
Not a problem just give them your landline and e-mail.

              I gave up my mobile.

If I need to contact someone when I'm out I use a "telephone box".

                Translated into english:

Older people have always been wealthier, having had a lifetime to grow their human capital. But now there are lots of older people relative to young people. Lets invent a headline that makes it sound more interesting than it really is.
It's been the case for a long time that almost all of the top 20% started off in the bottom 20%.

Sorry, should have clarified. Somewhere where someone with a half-reasonable job would live. The 90k houses in Manchester aren't in great areas at all.

Yeah, I know, nice leafy suburb, 30 mins from a £200k job in London, 5 beds, all for £90k.

AtW spends more than that on a car FFS.

A nice non Barratt Hutch for £250k in the SW would be nice, 4 bed, decent garden. Quite road, no riff raff. Trouble is you need to double that figure for something like that.

Here's an example (off a busy main road [emoji26]):
