Probably a flat battery. If you don't have a spare, you might have some other device that you can borrow one from temporarily. When my car key stopped working a while back, it turned out there was a battery of the right size in my bathroom scales

You are a contractor, buy a new car.

To clarify its the garage key fob not the car. Options? Looks like the battery has corroded inside it.

                  Options?

Build a garage with a normal door and stop being so fecking bone idle -- or at least one with a manual override.
