True comedy gold, you couldnt make some of this stuff up.
How about the fact that I managed to prove to myself I could maintain the rate for the last 2 years and now I have enough saved up to not really be as bothered about the rate? I guess it's easy to be a skeptic...

Despite the fact you're a moron, posters with loads more contracting experience than you have actually tried to help you. The dream gig is a misnomer and probably a combination of what you have been told and built up in your head as to what it is going to be like. The reality is - until you get there and get going, you won't know for sure. Many contractors have entered roles in the past with the promise of green fields, new technology, bonuses, training, perks etc. Most of them result in the reality being different to the sales pitch and this is what you've been forewarned about. Nevertheless, you've convinced yourself you want this so just do it already and let the lesson learnt begin.

running a company is all about maximising profits.

finding the dream job is something different altogether.

If you find that dream job, go for it my friend.

4 days at the same rate isn't a problem - it's 20% off the daily rate and a 4 day week.
ah so one less day AND 20% less... Fair bit then.

Always thought a 4 day week would be perfect. Too hard this 5 days lark.

You are aware that you can't claim JSA for the fifth day?
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Just musing, but if you had to take a rate cut to get the gig it's not really on the "dream" level; is it?

                Surely a dream gig is:

Doing the exact work you want to do with exactly the right amount of challenge, is based at home or close or in a location you dream of working in, pays boatloads over your market rate and ticks every other box imaginable.

I just can't compute how anything involving any level of compromise meets the dream standard.

But then again I'm a tosser.
                I'm a smug bastard.

Dream gig is like a good agent. Always dead.

Fair enough that you don't get why - it involves working with a certain set of celebrities and I got in via recommendation......

                      X-Factor fluffer?
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.
