I think money has a lot to do with greed. Once you have a significant amount of it, you want more. Everything from the MPs expenses scandal to bankers bonuses to the VW slush fund back in 2005 via every little backhander (i.e. BAE and the Arabs) to the black economy shows that...

Surely you mean that greed induces people to seek money that isn't rightfully theirs? In reality, money is the physical (digital?) manifestation of honesty.

Science hasn't done a great job of changing human nature so far.

People now regularly living past their 40s, many horrible diseases eradicated, but yeah, science is tulip.

It hasn't found a cure for stupidity though - well done you've completely missed the entire point being discussed which was not whether science is good, but that human nature hasn't changed despite our wonderful advances.

I think it is changing gradually, just not as quickly as advances in technology. For example we don't burn witches any more and 'civilised' society does seem to be growing up and evolving.

If we can bring the "1%" to heel (the banks/arms industry/oil industry/big pharma/Monsanto etc) and sort out corporate ownership of politics we should be on course for the next phases of our evolution.

This appears to be happening with political movements (Corbyn/Syreza/Bernie Sanders etc), they may not succeed straight away but there seems to be a change in tide.

We have evolved this far, what's to say we will not continue evolving beyond money and war? It's nature innit? It's science FFS!

You quoted a guy who basically said 'leave people alone if want to do what they believe is right' and then linked to another guy who wants to forcibly extort funding from tax payers in order to fund things they don't necessarily believe is right.

Why would you ever WANT to 'evolve' beyond money? It makes no sense.

Inequality, greed, war, elitism - there are lots of benefits to evolving beyond money. There are ancient tribes of people in the rainforest and other remote parts of the world who do not have the concept of money and are extremely happy and compassionate.

Now some of the more short sighted posters can start prattling on about life without money = regressing back to a primitive lifestyle because of course that's what a world without money would look like....
