In my area BT were first and fibre from Sky and talk talk was not available. A year later, it is.

Sky, talk talk just use BT "unbundled" fibre, they don't put their own into the ground, yet they complain how expensive BT stuff is...

Perhaps, after all this time, they STILL haven't quite figured out where Wales is yet....

If you can stay on an uncapped package, do so.
Funny you should say that. A year ago I ordered fibre with BT then Sky came up with a much cheaper option so I cancelled my BT order and went with them.

Now, when I ask BT they say no not for another month. I told them I've had sky fibre for over a year and they're answer is yes but its different equipment. WTF?

Sky got into the broadband game by acquiring Easynet years ago. Obviously they've got a much slicker marketing operation and have better negotiating power with their offering being far bigger.

Don't mix up BT with BT. BT put the fibre into the ground and sell the service to BT, Sky, PlusNet (owned by BT), etc. etc.

Also it's not fibre. It's just less copper.

Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Of course, Openreach is owned by BT, so your point is not invalid.

You mean Openreach (which is owned by BT Group). Openreach own the underlying infrastructure

Interesting thread because I am seriously considering moving from BT Broadband (18Mb line) to Sky Fibre (38Mb) mainly due to very poor service from BT. I'm not interested in BT's 2 TV channels either

Do Sky allow you to keep your same landline phone number?

You have had a lucky escape, BT are the worst kind of crap company around. If you ever have to deal with them over the phone you will know what I mean.
