Go!
I wish I'd done it when I had the chance, biggest regret I've got after the thing with the purple feather duster and the cockerel.I'm not even an atheist so much as I am an antitheist; I not only maintain that all religions are versions of the same untruth, but I hold that the influence of churches, and the effect of religious belief, is positively harmful. Well at least in the weather front Texas gets full points and you can enjoy beer and BBQ all year round.
Was this not the 'US' girl who is a complete and utter psycho ? I cannot believe you are thinking of going over there and indulging in coitus with that thing.

It all depends where in the US and the projected life you would have there. As said above, Dallas is fine but you have to drive everywhere. Large cities (like LA) have traffic similar to London/M25.
Never been to Charleston or Austin but heard they are very nice indeed. Living in a nice place influences your happiness more than people think IMO. I would try for a smallish town with parks and little crime. With countryside leisure activities nearby. Sorry stating the obvious here.
As for dumping GF, can't advise. I don't have a GF, really want one. When I get one, it will eventually just be really annoying. 'Twas ever thus.Comment

Which 'she'? Either way, harsh, MS. But no, they haven't. I'm really not quite the total tulip that this and previous posts may have indicated. If I was, I'd have just effed off chasing the money with my dick in my hand. Instead I'm having a pretty traumatic time of it.Originally posted by mudskipper View PostShe still not twigged that you really are not a catch?
And the thing is, my hand has been forced every step of the way. ClientCo says 'go perm or go away' so I applied for a role which I've got. My choice is still to go perm or go away. If I go perm, GFP will be heartbroken (believe it or not), and I'll be rich and quite possibly miserable. If I don't, ClientCo will exercise the 'go away' option. My role is very very niche so losing my job probably means losing my entire career in IT. I've specialised for too long and been lazy about re-training so that's my own fault.
I've been a passenger on this run-away train for months now, and what did or did not occur over the summer in the US really has no bearing on where I am and how I got here. If anything, it opened the 'go perm' door when otherwise I was just facing 'go away' due to contractor reductions at ClientCo.Comment

Not been there but many colleagues visited Dallas back when I worked for Texas Instruments. They reported climate less than ideal. *Extremely hot*. Also Houston also extremely humid. In winter they have "ice storms" that can deposit an inch of ice on your car.Originally posted by fullyautomatix View PostWell at least in the weather front Texas gets full points and you can enjoy beer and BBQ all year round.Comment
