I think Texas is a bit of a mixture, isn't it? But still, not exactly the first place one thinks of moving to in the USA

I spent a few months working in Texas – Dallas to be precise.

There is no way I would want to live there all the time. Everything is very artificial, need to drive everywhere – the local ‘pub’ was just a regular mall unit.

Was an interesting experience, but there is a very great cut-off from life feeling over there which I really did not enjoy.

If going with wife and family would be a good life, but not going alone.

Mind you, Dallas is like a country in its own right, where abouts in Texas?

Have a wife and kids in both places. Neither, none the wiser.

Surely this thread needs pictures of GFP and US Friend ?

                  Then we can truly judge.

However I would go for option 1c) Take the permie gig and pop back to the UK to see GFP but when in USA get friendly with your friend.

Is this offer to replace a burnt-out predecessor who's no longer up to snuff and spends his time alternating between rearranging his pens into neat rows on his desk and slamming staff up against a wall while screaming?

If so, sounds like it could be quite a miserable job. Could be lots of champagne though.

                      I think it's Milton's old job.
