Even if he was wrong on that case it would not be surprising if some asylum seekers do it.

Only a "right wing" blog of course but that is no reason in itself to state that the quoted source is inaccurate.
Of course there are genuine asylum seekers but there is no doubt that false claims are also used by some with no good case in order to remain in the EU.
