So, why are they trekking all the way here to a non-Muslim country when Turkey is on their doorstep?
What ? Have you forgotten Bradford?

      what is right is to
      1. accept legal Asylum seekers (clue unless they fly / float here direct from their place of persecution they can't be legal) We could accept some from a central EU pool.
      2. refuse / limit economic migrants access to reduce 'pull' factors.
      3. work with international agencies to reduce the pain of those displaced.

What is not right is to let a load of economic migrants in.

Lets look at the facts :

      1. The family were safe in Turkey for over a year.
      2. They had applied to move to Canada but were apparently refused because the paperwork is done incorrectly.
      3. They get on a boat that is carrying nearly twice as many people as it was designed for to make a 13 mile journey across open sea to Greece so they can claim Asylum illegally in Europe. This is despite knowing many previous people have died taking this route.
      4. The boat overturns and the wife & children die.

if the person had been a Brit most of you would have been questioning his sanity on point 3. I would imagine if he was Turkish you would also comment.

He was an economic migrant, his attempt to travel illegally to Europe caused the death of his family. It is sad but true.

Our government bear some responsibility because they don't refuse illegal economic migrants.

Desperately sad to see innocents die but unless we firmly close the route many will follow and die.

It really breaks my heart seeing what these children are going through. Frustrating that I cannot do anything about it. I really wish I could. Its time for people to stop being selfish and look after your own interests and be a bit humane about it. Those children are in that position due to no fault and dont deserve to die like that.

A small group of us are planning to drive down to Calais in the first few days of Oct, we will take supplies to the refugees, also donations, anyone interested in driving with us, or just donating (either money or supplies) please PM me.
So far we have 2 cars and one van, lots and lots of people interested in helping and donating, if you have a car and would like to come that would be greatly appreciated.

Be careful. They're not all cuddly refugees deserving of our sympathy.

There are some violent people in those encampments - the traffickaers as well as, no doubt, some of the migrants themselves.

There are a number of stories of the actions of well meaning people ending in tears over the years.

Besides, you'll probably not get past Operation Stack
