I would love to do this but 3389 is blocked at the firewall. I would expect that to be the case at most corporate sites. You have a trick?

I would like to tunnel RDP using SSH. In fact anything would be OK so long as it is secure and not dog slow. I've researched this online and unless you have your own Citrix server facing the web (I don't have the product or licence) then gotomypc.com looks like the best bet. But it is pricey and fairly restricted - 1 PC.

We have ports 80 and 443 open only.

VNC will run over any port you want - and it's free.

I punched it into Google and found many claims of VNC being insecure over a public network.

Even using VNC though, you'll still be generating internet traffic. Actually with VNC, you'll be generating more than plain browser over port 80. As someone mentioned before on the other thread about email - it's probably better to use your own means, e.g. 3G / mobile. You could then set up your browser to use that network connection instead of the corporate lan.

I guess if you're ultra paranoid, the best bet would be to run vmware and have the corporate os run in one VM and your own in another.

Either that, or some kind of micro-pc with KVM. Anyone done that?

Not really a network admin if you can install some software on your machine to conduct your personal business.

This is the problem network admins continue to have on a day to day basis. They worry too much about the outside hacker and forget about the internal staff who are continually trying to circumvent the security policys.

Buy a 3g and keep your job!!

I like to use real-time streaming stock quoting websites like ADVFN and it's these are I believe generate constant traffic over the network.

I also like to occasionally pop into the gents and check the size of my todger. It can be fun.
