Why do we need anyone to drive a train? I could knock up something in 10 minutes in Visual Basic to do the same job.

If we could replace all the public sector with Visual Basic, then the unions wouldn't have any power.

On many lines they don't..... Its for show, opening doors and emergencies.

In fact the only real job they actually do is announce the reason behind delays...

Which is usually them going on strike, because being paid £50K plus benefits to annouce a delay is not enough this week.

Bunch of enormously overpaid bastards. As said above, much of the tube is automated, all drivers usually do is make announcements, decide when to close the doors and leave the station. If we weren't wasting money on their undeserved wages we could complete the automation process and have a driverless (and very safe) system like Copenhagen.

I don't understand why they don't hold off the night tube until they have agreement from drivers?

Then they need to recruit as many drivers as possible at a lower rate. Who cannot join a union. I think the free market should decide the correct wage for this job.

Don't forget the usual 52 days holiday a year (Even 43 days as a trainee) they really have a tough life
