I am not really into sport, so Sky Sports didn't need to factor into my calcs, and I discount the 'free'/included BT Sports.
The range of subscribed (The extra entertainment) channels seems reasonable, I do like my films and have Sky Movies as part of BT Vision.

Prior to Sky's recent fibre offer, my BT package with Sky Movies worked out cheaper than Sky with fibre, entertainment channels, and movies.

I am not a very heavy net user (other than for streaming BT Vision, Netflix, etc) but the internet seems fine for my needs.

      Really?

Virgin have a cable right outside my door and have been pestering me for years to take them up.

I might look again at their offer later in the year.

I'm on the cheapest option which when I initially got it was 25mb after a couple of years of free speed doubling I'm on 100mb now, works so well downloading streaming etc that I never even think about it, Sky was cr@p in comparison, couldn't even stream iPayer without it buffering!

I am with Virgin for BB at this place, can't fault it (well except for the blocking of naughty sites but can't really blame them for that)

I have to have BT Sport in addition to Sky TV, as rugby I want to watch is split between the two.

I have BT for Broadband, because of the discount on sport it effectively works out much cheaper than the headline price. Plus when my initial deal expired and I reluctantly phoned them up to renew, they offered me a big discount on their headline prices without me even asking.

I'm not convinced I'm getting much value out of Sky movies as I used to. I could be imagining it, but I have the feeling that there are hardly any movies coming out which are worth watching, the quality and quantity of movies seems to have declined massively. ("Gone Girl" last night being a worthy exception.) I suspect I am watching about one movie a month, and even that one isn't very good.

On the other hand, 90% of what I watch seems to be on Sky Atlantic, so even ignoring sport and movies, I would have to have Sky for that.

I've had Virgin BB for about 16 years (will need to check email history for when I asked a favour and got teesside made the NTL test network)....

I can remember it going down about twice and both times it didn't take long to get back up..

I am sorry but I have to say I beat you all. I have Hyperoptic 1gig Fibre to the building. I get normally around 50mB per second, but at night when less people in the building are using it I can get up to 70mB. It is how the internet should be, and it is fantastic. They come and just put an Ethernet cable into your apartment, free fixed IP address, no need for any BT line, its like the future now, and because they aren't one of the bigger ISP's they haven't signed up to anything, so no shaping, no blocking (I was amazed when we first got it that the real pirate bay actually worked of course it's been taken down now and I never used it just wanted to test).

hyperoptic is crazy expensive, 50/mo with 40 connection fee and after a year 60/mo.

I'm on 100mbit with virgin and it's about 30/mo, I don't think I could justify the speed increase for such a steep cost. I mean on 100mbit you can download huge files pretty quick already.

Actually, when they put it into our building they gave it to us for £30 a month for 2 years if we signed up for 1 year and no connection fee. Which I thought was a pretty fair offer. All in their 100mb is £28 a month (including a phone line via VOIP) and its a real 100mb, just a 1gb line limited with no shaping/no limits and 100mb up and down. I have a friend with Virgin and their traffic shaping can be nasty at times, but of course Hyperoptics area is pretty limited.

I have just renewed my Sky. £66 includes Sky Talk (phone), Sky fibre unlimited, Sky package including HD, Sky Sports, Movies and Variety Pack, Sky Go.

Unbeatable, but this was after cancelling when my bill was going up to £110 and the retention team called me.
