"Permie jobs don't pay as well as my contracts" should put his gas at a peep.

Then he'll want to know what you earn, and you can really wind him up by saying "I don't like to discuss my salary* with people".

*Keep it simple for him and just say salary.

They don't ask, I don't tell. They've no idea what I do beyond "something to do with computers" and not a clue how much I earn.

You lot must have some weird family if they are obsessed with what you earn and how you earn it.

I've a mate who keeps asking and asking all the time. I've admitted I get paid daily but won't tell him - all hes got me to admit so far is that its AT LEAST £150 a day.

Hes a bit incredulous at this - oh dear better not tell him any more.

I've also got a bit of a nasty inlaw (sister-in-law I can't stand) who constantly digs that we're lucky to have the income (that pisses me off) so I keep smiling and telling her my salary is £10K a year.

If I take day off old man asks me how much I'm loosing out on by doing this. I guess this is the permie mentality where you get a set amount per week/month so unpaid time off is never done....

Never tell him but one day he said so do you get more than £200 a week then. Umm ,yes dad. You must be mad coughing up £40 then he says.

He is 82 mind and lives in small town. Thinks £3 a pint is expensive.

Laughable comments about how you all think you're better off than a permie in a decent job. Bask in my shadow.

You're all weak and worthless. Now drop and give me 20.

Sorry that would be Direction and Control.

Decent permie job? You do nothing but whinge and say you want to go back to contracting!

My old man is now 76 and he's a contractor although I think he just does it for the travel. I noticed that he's recently been in various parts of Russia, Ghana, China, Chile, Serbia, Saudi Arabia, Yorkshire and other strange places. I get to travel but not like that....
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.
